GOLDSCHMIDT2008
 www.goldschmidt2008.org [1]
 July 13 - 18 in Vancouver, Canada

The abstract deadline for Goldschmidt2008 is at the end of this week
(March 1st 23:59 PST). If you wish to make a presentation in Vancouver
please ensure that your abstract is submitted BY THIS DATE, as once
the website is closed no further submissions will be possible.

In addition to reminding all of you of the abstract deadline, this
e-mail would like to bring your attention to the following:

 	* the availability of financial support for students and delegates
from lower-income countries,
 	* the opening of the conference job service, and
 	* the arrangements for this year's medallists and award recipients.

 FINANCIAL SUPPORT
(http://www.goldschmidt2008.org/grants/grantInformation [2])

Owing to the generosity of the GS and EAG together with a range of
other societies and funding bodies (including NSF, ESF, GSJ and MAC),
some funds will be available to provide financial support:

 	* for students (including those who completed their theses in the
last year and have yet to obtain a post-doctoral position), and
 	* for delegates from lower-income countries.

These grants will provide a significant contribution towards the
cost of attending the meeting, but will not cover the full cost.

The application procedure is available from the conference website
(from http://www.goldschmidt2008.org/grants/grantInformation [3], or
by clicking the 'Grants' link on the conference website).

All applications for financial support should be received by the
conference not later than MARCH 31ST. All complete applications will
be assessed, with grants being awarded on the basis of merit and
availability of appropriate funds. The results of each application
will be communicated to delegates in due time for them to register at
the early registration rate (deadline May 11th). CONFERENCE JOBS
SERVICE (http://www.goldschmidt2008.org/jobs/jobAdvertise [4])

The conference wishes to facilitate contact between potential
employers (both for academic and commercial/industrial posts) and
geochemists attending the conference, particularly graduate students
and post-docs. The conference is committed to providing any
assistance possible to its junior delegates, and also to those
seeking to fill academic jobs and to its industrial sponsors who have
helped support the meeting.

The conference website contains a page where potential employers can
submit details of any post they wish to fill. This can be found at
http://www.goldschmidt2008.org/jobs/jobAdvertise [5], or by clicking
the 'Jobs' link on the conference website. All job applications
received will be posted on the conference website on March 15th,
although jobs may continue to be submitted after that date, and the
list of available jobs will be continuously updated. After this date,
the conference website (from
http://www.goldschmidt2008.org/jobs/jobOpportunities [6], or by
clicking the 'Jobs' link) will help enable contact between delegates
and potential employers. MEDALS AND AWARDS
(http://www.goldschmidt2008.org/medals [7])

A list of those who are to receive medals and awards at the
conference can be found at http://www.goldschmidt2008.org/medals [8].
All recipients of these distinctions should submit their abstract via
the conference website in the usual way. 30 minutes will be allocated
to all medallist and award presentations (apart from those elected to
Fellowships of the GS and EAG, who will be allocated talks of
standard length), and abstracts for these presentations may be
submitted in addition to the single abstract available to all
delegates.

All Medallists and Award recipients will receive information on the
procedures to have their citations and responses from the conference
office. They will also be printed in the conference program. If you
have been informed that you will be receive a medal or award at this
meeting, please contact the conference office
(info at goldschmidt2008.org [9]) so that it can ensure that you have
all the appropriate information in good time.

Goldschmidt2008 is going to be a great conference. Do come to
Vancouver to be a part of it.
