Please find below the text of an advertisement
for funded Postdoctoral Research Associate to be
based in Institute of Geology and Geography, Vilnius.

Title – Short-lasted changes of the
palaeoecosystems during the post-Glacial: tendencies and prognoses.

Supervisor – dr. Migle Stancikaite

Summary – The main goal of the work will be the
indication, chronologization and investigation of
the short-lasted changes of the palaeoecosystems
recorded in the Lateglacial and Holocene sediment
sequences. Similar variations of the environment
may have influenced flora and fauna, human life,
development and distribution of the particular
cultures. These changes could be ascribed as the
potential indicators of the subsequent global
variations of the climate and the environment.
Palaeobotanical investigations are going to be
one of the main data sources for the following interpretations.

The main of the internship:
- study of the methodological aspects for the
investigation of the post-Glacial palaeoecosystems;
- studies of the palaeobotanical methods (pollen and plant macro remains);
- indication and charakterization of the
short-lasted changes of the palaeoecosystems
during the post-Glacial; regional and global correlation of the obtained data;
- publication of the data;

Duration of the internship – 2 year (2008-2009 years).

Qualification requirements: a doctor degree in
physical or biomedicine sciences, publications in
the high rank scientific journals, good knowledge
of the foreign language, English preferable.
Knowledge in the ecosystem dynamics is desirable.

Documents requested:
1. Application according to the form indicated on
the Webster of the Lithuanian State Science and
Studies Foundation
(<http://www.wmsfondas.lt/document.php?id=410>http://www.wmsfondas.lt/document.php?id=410)
2. Description of the scientific activity;
3. Two recommendation letters;
4. Diploma of doctor degree.

Documents should be submitted
Institute of Geology and Geography, T.Sevcenkos
str. 13, LT-03223, Vilnius, Lithuania,
before 25-03-2008.
