My apologies for resending this message, but an error in this 
announcement has been brought to my attention. The online conference 
will take place on MONDAY (not Friday), February 25th, at 11:30-12:30 CST.



The Geoarchaeology Interest Group of the Society for American 
Archaeology will be sponsoring an informal online question and answer 
session on Monday, February 25^th at 11:30-12:30 CST for students who 
are considering graduate work or training in geoarchaeology. This online 
conference follows upon several Geoarchaeology listserv postings this 
December concerning preparation for graduate studies in geoarchaeology. 
If there are students who still have questions or others who have useful 
information to share, this event is for you.



Julie Stein (Director of the Burke Museum of Natural History and 
Culture, and Professor of Anthropology at the University of Washington) 
and Rolfe Mandel (Kansas Geological Survey, and Associate Professor in 
Archaeology at the University of Kansas) have graciously agreed to be 
online to answer questions about preparation for and opportunities in 
graduate work in geoarchaeology and also in Cultural Resource Management.



This online conference will use the Wimba Live Classroom system. 
Participants will enter an electronic room, ANTHgigRinitaDalan, hosted 
by Rinita Dalan at Minnesota State University Moorhead. A word document 
is attached that contains a brief description of the system, 
instructions for setting up your computer to participate (running a 
quick setup wizard ahead of time), plus instructions for logging into 
the session on the day of the conference.



Please join us on-line if you are thinking about a career in 
geoarchaeology and have questions that you would like the experts to 
answer or if you would just like to connect with other 
geoarchaeologists.  GIG members, if you would be willing to share your 
knowledge and expertise, please join us as well. This electronic 
conference will accommodate up to 50 participants.
