Subject: Session on Cosmogenic Nuclides at Goldschmidt 2008 - Call for
Abstracts
      To: QUATERNARY at CLIFFY.UCS.MUN.CA

Dear Colleagues -

Our apologies for cross-posting. We'd like to announce a session at
the 2008 Goldschmidt Conference in Vancouver, Canada (July 13-18 2008)
focusing on in situ cosmogenic nuclide constraints on surficial
processes. Please visit http://www.goldschmidt2008.org/themeView?theme=16
  for more details.

The deadline for abstract submittal is March 1, 2008.

Session 16e: Cosmogenic nuclide constraints on surface process rates
and styles

Description:

Terrestrial cosmogenic nuclides are providing previously intractable
information
about the nature of virtually all surface processes over timescales of
centuries
to millions of years. This three-part session showcases innovative
TCN research
leading to improvements in our understanding of processes that control
landscape
evolution and natural hazards. Part 1 emphasizes glaciodynamical
processes at ice
sheet to alpine scales, including erosion and glacier-bed
interactions. Part 2
emphasizes fluvial, hillslope, and other non-glacial processes in
tectonically active
and quiescent environments. Part 3 concerns the technical
improvements in TCN theory
and application. Papers from this session will be sought for
publication in a special
volume of Quaternary Geochronology.

-----

We hope to see you there.

Best regards -

A.J. Timothy Jull, Susan Ivy-Ochs, Nathaniel Lifton, Joerg Schaefer,
John Gosse, and Arjun Heimsath (Co-conveners)
