HUMAN VARIATION IN THE NEW WORLD
A meeting of archaeology and biological anthropology

CALL FOR PAPERS
The Center for Archaeological Investigations at Southern Illinois University is 
pleased to announce the call for presentation abstracts for the 25th Annual 
Visiting Scholar Conference.  This conference addresses the need for a 
synthesis on human variation in the Americas prior to European colonization. 
The meeting will bring together archaeologists, skeletal biologists, and 
anthropological geneticists into a dialogue about cultural and biological 
diversity over the many millennia of human occupation in the New World.  Please 
see the conference poster, helpful guidelines for abstract preparation, and

Conference: 25-26 April 2008 in Carbondale, Illinois, at Southern Illinois 
University
Format: Podium (oral) presentations with multimedia resources available 
(Microsoft PowerPoint preferred).  Presentations will be limited to 20-25 
minutes.
Abstract: 300-word maximum, excluding title, author(s) or funding information. 
Do not include graphics or tables in the abstract.  PLEASE NOTE: There are a 
limited number of presentation slots available.  Abstracts will be 
peer-reviewed by a committee of archaeologists and physical anthropologists.
Submission deadline: 15 December 2007.  Please submit abstracts to Benjamin M. 
Auerbach, Ph.D., via e-mail at auerbach at siu.edu.  All abstracts must be 
submitted as electronic files (*.PDF files are preferred).

The conference will have open attendance to all who are interested. 
Registration fees will be announced on the conference web site and in 
correspondence sent to those submitting abstracts.  All additional inquires may 
be sent to Benjamin Auerbach, conference organizer, via e-mail
