Subject: Final call for papers for the CANQUA 2007 Special Session: "Dating
the Quaternary..."
Dear all,
Apologies for cross-posting
This is the final call for papers for the CANQUA 2007 Special Session: "DATING THE QUATERNARY - METHODOLOGICAL ADVANCES AND APPLICATIONS". The deadline for abstract submission (March 13, 2007) is now only 2 weeks away (see below)!
June 4-8 Carleton University, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
The Quaternary was (is) one of the most significant periods in Earth history. It was (is) not only a time of extreme climatic fluctuation, but the period over which humans evolved, civilization began, and people started to have a profound affect on the environment. The Quaternary has been, however, one of the most difficult periods to date, and as a result, scientists have had to rely on a broad collection of methods. These methods are varied in application, some being usable over only relatively small time-scales, while others can only be applied only under very special circumstances. Examples include radiocarbon, dendrochronology, tephrochronology, lead-210, uranium series, and potassium-argon, trapped electron methods (ESR and luminescence), fission track, magnetic polarity, and cosmogenic (exposure) dating, among others. This session welcomes papers on recent advances in Quaternary dating methods as well as their application.
Please contact Olav Lian (olav.lian at ucfv.ca) for additional information or questions about this special session. Registration for the conference, and abstract submission, is done through the CANQUA web site (see below).
