Subject: Proposal for a Quaternary Atlas Wikibook

Some of you might be familiar with the QEN atlas of the late Quaterary, which I set up in 1995. The philosophy of QEN is to bring together the knowledge of our community to produce an accessible summary of current knowledge and opinion, plus a range of maps. Here's the Web address:

The internet has reached such a level of sophistication that something I never dreamed of has come along: web sites which can be communally edited and continuously updated.

On Wikipedia there is a special section known as 'wikibooks' ..essentially very long entries (they can be hundreds of pages) that are edited just like any other Wikipedia page.

I am hoping to put the existing QEN pages online as a template, which we can all then improve and modify.

Unfortunately, I am hamstrung by my inability to understand the Wiki instructions for setting up a Wikibook. I recently spent a whole evening trying to understand how to get started, but I got nowhere.

Can anyone out there help me by doing the groundwork, getting the blank page set up so I can start pasting stuff in and editing it??
